I have never been to the local horse riding club. I go past it in my car from time to time, but it looks too intimidating to me. They say anyone can join, but I would rather not. I googled some pictures for you. Look at the size of these horses!

And this one!

This one seems pretty. Do you know the name of that coloring?

The horse in the first photo is not that tall Marta. Probably around 14 hands. The horse in 2nd photo is taller.Could be up to 16 hands. The horse in the last photo is a Grey & also around 16 hands high. Some may say - a Dappled Grey. My horse would have been this colour when he was young. Grey horses gradually go white as they age. Bit hard to say what colour the first horse is. The horse in 2nd photo looks like a Bay.(Brown with black Mane & Tail & black socks.) Many of the Race Horses are Bay in colour.

I thought this info may be beneficial. I think my old Silver was around 16 Hands High.
How to measure a horse. After you have measured your horse you will need to convert the results from inches to "hands." Horse height is correctly referred to by a unit of measurement known as a "hand." One hand is equal to four inches. The gray mare in the photo above is 58 inches from the ground to the top of her withers.

Thanks, Trish, these horses still look very big to me. It seems a pity that the grey ones turn white.

Yes it is a shame that Grey horses turn white. I would have loved to have seen Silver when he was dark grey. xx

My dream and the greatest desire for childhood has remained unfulfilled, and that is to learn to ride. Here it is very expensive and most of us unimaginabledog

Dijana, as a child I wanted to learn to ride too, but when I tried it later on, I didn't like it. I guess I was too big and unfit by then.

Arline, horses are also used for funerals over here, but it's rare. I think it is rather expensive.

we have a place like that here too, where you can ride a horse for an hour..I never went because those who go for the first times, have muscle aches all over for a few days...uh uh, hot for me, I just prefer admiring their beauty and grace

The grey horse like this one on the picture would be called A schimmel in German and siwy jablkowity in Polish. They have often grey points on a white fur. Riding is fun - if you know how to direct the horse, which I never knew, but I did a very little bit of riding - on condition that there was someone else who could ride nearby. For me, the biggest problem was to mount the horse since I am very small. But is has to be said, that after a riding excursion you have to endure some pain in your behind.By the way, riding in American saddle is my easier than the European (aka English) saddle.

I admire horses but from afar.....they scare me a little. Not sure why.

I love horses they are like big dogs to me , They can be very smart and playful just like dogs are Another photo from the pony club where I live xxx

I think I could enjoy a small horse like a pony. It's the big horses that are scary.
