I got Mac when my car broke down one day on a country road with no cell service. A lady from a house nearby came to see if I needed help, and then asked if I wanted to look at a litter of kittens she had. Of course I did, and of course I ended up bringing one home!
He was a tiny kitten and full of fleas and ear mites. We gave him flea baths and he politely tolerated them. He followed Legolas around all the time and learned how to be a fantastic hunter. Legolas taught him a lot and he became Legaly's legacy.
Mac was a tough guy and never hesitated to smackeypaw Zander to keep him in line. Zander learned to be wary of him. It was amusing that a small cat was in charge of a 90 lb black lab. When Jax came along, he and Mac became best buddies. They LOVED to wrestle. And Mac enjoyed grooming Jax. It was a very special friendship.
We began learning about photography while we had him, and he was so photogenic and would pose for the camera. I think he enjoyed posing just as much as we enjoyed snapping the picture. He was the perfect model to help us learn about photography. I treasure the many wonderful pictures he gave us.
In 2016, he had a bad ear infection and I had to give him pills three times a day and keep him inside for two weeks. Surprisingly, he allowed me to do it and was the most agreeable cat I've ever given pills to. I saw a softer side of him during that time.
He stole our hearts completely. We could not have kept him from being an indoor/outdoor cat. He went missing in 2017 and we never found him. It broke our hearts.

I am special because... mac was an awesome cat. he was such an incredible hunter and brought us "gifts" all the time, from mice and birds to garden snakes and rabbits. he was extremely photogenic and won a few online contests, was featured in 3 page-a-day calendars, and was in catster magazine. he had a feisty personality, which we loved, and he is still very missed.
