I got Ivy when I was 20, and she was 6 months old. She was my first cat as an adult and she made me realize how much I love cats. She started it all.
I adopted her from the local PAWS shelter. I was going through a rough time in my life and my boyfriend at the time suggested we go "look" at cats there. Of course I came home with one! I knew she was meant to be mine immediately. They brought her out to let me spend time and play with her in a private room. She completely ignored me but I loved her anyway.
Ivy went through many changes with me - two moves, my boyfriend moving in with his cat, and the addition of other cats and two dogs. She handled it all without complaint even though she would have preferred it always had been just the two of us. We loved each other so much. There is something very special about your first cat.
It was very difficult to say goodbye, and her death was traumatic for us all. Her lungs filled with fluid and I wasn't able to be with her when they put her down. I still miss her.

I am special because... ivy loved to put her toy mice in her food dish when i wasn't looking and then watch me find it. she also liked to hide and then jump out and surprise me as i walked by. when she was young, she liked to slide around in the bathtub, making thumping noises, mostly at night when i was sleeping. it was silly and made me laugh. she would also sit on the edge of the tub between the inside and outside shower curtains when i took a shower.
