The name I gave Carminha was Lakshmi, a Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, light, beauty, good luck, love and grace.
She is the wife of the god Vishnu and the goddess of the home for most Hindu families.
But my family thought this Hindu name was too complicated to call her. So, since I like the opera Carmem, I reluctantly named her Carminha.
But Lakshmi is her name, especially since she is black like my cat Vishnu.
